Romantics of the common place
'To perceive one's place within the context of historical evolution, within the constant flux of time is to stand still and see the true nature of our civilization. To be able to slow down and see the effects of time and man's progress in the inanimate is a true virtue of the artist.' Beautifully put. I do agree with him that the artist has to stand still and observe from a distance. It happens that I like all the photographers/artists mentioned, and sometimes I wonder how much we have been influenced by these artists before us without knowing. |
