We went visiting the Thai temple (Buddhapadipa Temple) near Wimbledon Common on Sunday. The temple sat amidst a garden and some small buildings of some Thai institutions. We went into the hall of worship which wasn't very big but had a high ceiling and a monk sat next to the altar with Buddha statues (normal-looking Buddha similar to the Chinese style, not 4-faced). We just tried to follow what other people did, and kneeled ourselves to the front of the monk, bowed a few times and let him spray holy water on us. He spoke Thai to us and we couldn't respond... then he signalled us to bow down to the Buddha again.

It must be a special day for them coz everybody dressed up and seemed to be celebrating over something. A buffet was set up on one side and we queued up for free and awesome Thai food like others did. It's a pity we were a bit late and the dessert (黑糯米) was gone already, but other things were simply excellent. I even got a cup of Ovaltine.

Later we saw people taking pictures with a member of the Olympic Thailand Team. A lady told us that he won a silver the day before and it's also their Mother's Day.

The Thai temple seems to be a more welcoming place than the Hindu Temple in Neasden. Perhaps it's just the greener environment and the location which makes it a more pleasant visit? In terms of architecture, however, The Neasden Temple is unparalleled. Very amazing.

Brought Jenny to Wimbledon Windmill after this. So long, Wimbledon.

Look at the beautifully carved apple! Crazy. There was also a huge watermelon carved with patterns and delicate Thai alphabets.

The edible gifts have all been consumed within a day. Haha.
