went to the opening of Resonance tonight. happy to meet samson and hear him talking about his own work.

this work called Beethoven Piano Sonata nr.1 - nr.14 consists about 40 (46 i think?) blinking devices that also give out ticking sounds. each unit represents one movement of a sonata, and as the tempo of each movement is different, the blinking and ticking speed is therefore different. by taking away melody and rhythm - the elements that contribute to the order (次序) from the music, and reducing the sonatas into blinks and tickings, the reduced sonatas can last forever. without recognizable melody and rhythm, there is no beginning and no end to the sonatas.

i like the idea of taking away the linear order from music. thanks to alvis for inviting me to the opening. nice to meet samson and tommy too. such a pretty couple.
