為了找香港的高空照片又要跑到中央圖書館，期間被地圖圖書館的兩本英國高空攝影書吸引，抄下了好些有趣地方的地名，現在此分享。

Dungeness

這是我在2008年到過的地方，為了看那裡的sound mirror和感受荒蕪。書的description實在講中晒我的心聲：The enormous arrow-headed shingle spit of Dungeness is Europe's largest. Thousands of parallel lines score its shingle surface, each one a ridge formed during a storm. Dungeness is famous among botanists for its exuberant, hardy shore plants, and among birders all over Britain for its spectacular 'falls' of migrating birds and its sightings of passing sea duck and seabirds. The spit is treasured among discerning walkers and lovers of odd corners of landscape for the strangeness of the scene - two hulking nuclear power stations set in a desert of stones dotted with black-tarred fishermen's huts - and, paradoxically, for the sense of solitude it offers.

Shivering Sands Army Fort (i didn't see this on the books but i just saw it on the internet)

they are on the sea near Essex (east england). According to wikipedia, "In August and September 2005, artist Stephen Turner spent six weeks living alone in the searchlight tower of the Shivering Sands Fort in what he described as "an artistic exploration of isolation, investigating how one's experience of time changes in isolation, and what creative contemplation means in a 21st-century context"." (oh this is something i have always wanted to do. see Stephen Turner's Seafort Project) Other than what the artist has done, the history of these forts is interesting. one of the forts is occupied by a Mr Paddy Roy Bates and was claimed an independent country - the smallest country on earth called "sealand".
