this is going to be very materialistic entry, but i am too excited not to list out all the shops and products i found these 2 days. maybe i'll post photos of them later. 1. pantone folding chairs by seletti
i visit homeless in central once a while. actually, i like this relatively quiet area much better than SoHo. this time i see something really fun and unforgettable - the pantone chair by seletti. there are 6 colours, and each costs around $200. not expensive compared to other designer chairs. the name pantone chair is a pun on the modern classic Panton chair, which is a sweet joke understood by designers and design lovers. apart from pantone chairs they also have pantone metal boxes, but the boxes are relatively more expensive. address: G/F, 29 Gough Street, Central 2. outofstock design house limited i have mentioned this shop before. it's very near to homeless. mainly sells vintage cameras and furniture. you can also find many other vintage gadgets like typewriter, radio, self-designed camera bags etc. a few ago they were selling stylophones. address: Shop B, 12, G/F, On Wo Lane, Central, Hong Kong. 3. vintagehk very very nice store selling second hand / vintage / designer items ranging from clothes, shoes, accessories, ties, watches, antique fans, postcards, 蛙王郭孟浩's artwork (actually i don't know if those are for sale) etc. i bought a handmade badge (expensive), a skirt (cheap) and some postcards (cheap). very unique shop with handsome 有氣質 shopkeeper (according to my standard and taste). address: 57-59 Hollywood Road, Central, Hong Kong (荷里活道與卑利街交界,GOD附近) photos here: Vintage HK:轉角的驚喜 4. Beatniks opposite to vintagehk is beatniks, a boutique which sells '70s dresses. mpressive collection, but i don't think many of us can carry those 大花 dresses. address: 32 Graham Street, Central, Hong Kong photos here: 70年代时装潮流与Beatniks 5. 新生玩具公司 near junction of queen road west and water street. sells robot models, doraemon toys, 羅素搖搖. i bought a 淺藍色日本製可摺疊望遠鏡 about the size of an iPhone at $80. looked like product of the '80s / '70s, very well made. given to colleague as xmas gift address: 香港西營盤水街2號A至2號B 6. 中環某文具店 not a super old or special shop, but to my surprise they have many piles for 3D postcards from world expo of 1970. archians should feel interested about this. address: G/F, wellongton street, central (near aberdeen street) 7. cookie galerie handmade cookies. taste good and come with pretty packages. there are 2 types of assorted cookies. $150 for each box of 60 cookies. the shop looks very nice outside too. address: 25 Aberdeen Street, Central 8. moleskine woodstock limited edition notebook
