Every life is a defense of a particular form.

Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009 12:36 a.m.

finally met mr yeung this evening. had a nice vegetarian dinner and a long chat. he sounded young on phone but looked thinner than i remembered.

i told him about why i got tired of this job and the school, about what others and i thought about choosing between archi and art, what i planned to do after quitting job, and what difficulties i was having. at my age he was an accountant, and he didn't like his job. after quitting this job he spent a long time travelling in europe, and at the age of 37 he enrolled in hku to study art history and comparative literature. that, he said, was a turning point in his creative life - for the various art theories had broadened and enriched his mind.

he flipped through my very green portfolio hacked up last year before wimbledon's interview as well as my sketch book. the delicate sketches of buildings have won some praises as expected, but finally his fixed his eyes on a single little drawing of water drops against the glow of a street lamp at night (i think claudie left a comment on facebook for that one).

"this is it. i see energy and yourself in it," said he. "develop along this line and see what you'll get. i shall see you after 3 weeks."

agaetis byrjun.

glad to find a mentor.
