when i'm not in office i'm reading. my second attempt of reading gunter grass' the tin drum since f.4 or so. this time i seem to be able to grasp more and enjoy more. life is difficult in every era, and we need literature - for us to dive into another equally cruel timespace, another bitter reality sugar coated by words. poignant, dark, humorous and amusingly weird. i can't believe that this nearly 600 pages book is his first novel. what a genious. the world is flat. a book strongly recommended by boss. i am not used to reading this kind of teach-yourself-a-lesson books yet. i read biography/newspaper/user manuals/dictionary/textbooks... but i have a resistance to this kind. let me try to overcome it and grasp something... - office will move to somewhere else (north point / kwun tong according to humour). hopefully it's somewhere nearer to central. it takes my colleague 2 hrs to go to kwun tong from home. |
