everytime i listened to "starry, starry night..." i would think of vincent van gogh's Starry Night. tonight i listened to this song again on the radio and tried to listen to what it said, and i found that this song was called "vincent" and was really about van gogh. it's a very touching song indeed. when van gogh was alive, nobody appreciated him. he went mad and once he tried to cut his ear off (not the whole ear..). however he loved life the same and his passion for painting never died. how do you know that an insane artist like him was not the sanest person in this world? VincentXDon McLean Starry, starry night Paint your palette blue and gray Look out on a summer's day With eyes that know The darkness in my soul Shadows on the hills Sketch the trees and the daffodils Catch the breeze and winter chills In colors on the snowy linen land Now I understand What you tried to say to me How you suffered for your sanity How you tried to set them free They would not listen They did not know how Perhaps they'll listen now Starry starry night Flaming flowers that brightly laze Swirling clouds in violet haze Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue Colors changing hue Morning fields amber grain Weathered faces lined in pain Are soothed beneath The artiFor they could not love you But still your love was true And when no hope was Left in sight on that Starry starry night You look your life As lover often do But I could have told you Vincent This world was never meant For one as beautiful as you Starry starry night Portraits hung in empty halls Frameless heads on nameless walls With eyes that watch The world and can't forget Like the strangers that you've met The ragged man in ragged clothes The silver thorn of bloody rose Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow Now I think I know What you tried to say to me How you suffered for you sanity How you tried to set them free They could not listen They're not listening still Perhaps they never will if you feel sad, maybe you can try to look at this picture or listen to this song. look at the whirling clouds and stars that flow in the sky. you can always feel the artist's love for life. everything in the picture has life. everything is flowing, changing from time to time. sorry i don't know how to comfort others. i can't find the right words and i don't know what to say. but i think we should accept the fact that things do change and nobody can really grab something and never let go of it. |
