Hadley Freeman: it's time to ditch high heels

I hate heels and I don't like ballet flats either but I do think that the former is a much bigger evil. The sight of veins and ligament on women's feet is just so horrifying. I don't mind other people wearing them for their own reasons, but there is no point in persuading others to wear them so that 'you look taller / more mature / more professional / sexier'. The obvious truth is that they deform your toes and destroy you body from spine to toe, and no one's gonna recognize your merit by the fact that you wear a nice pair of heels. You get appreciated if you are a nice smart person in appropriate attire and wearing heels is obviously not women's only way to achieve that. Well actually I am against the idea of 'one must wear heels to look like a proper woman' rather than the shoes themselves. Same logic as to why I oppose representing female with red and pink and wearing girls in pink. Also similar to my opposition to giving Barbie dolls to girls instead of something more intelligent. Hell with all stereotypes!

OK enough slacking. Back to teaching kit =/
